- Tamara has been able to bring free solar energy training to staff and tribal members. She is spearheading an energy assessment for the tribe, bringing in tons of free resources to help us determine the best sources of alternate energy for PGST.

- Irina Fox, the new Heronswood Business Manager. She is building a region-wide promotions program for Heronswood, including membership in three chambers of commerce. Her proposal to the Port of Seattle for Seatac International Airport advertising space was accepted, so Heronswood will be a featured destination for people flying into the Seatac International Airport.
- Also, Shelby Nelson, the new Events Coordinator, has been busy booking and rebuilding the wedding program at Heronswood and has weddings booked out for the next two years already!
Any projects get completed in April?
- The Foundation and Heronswood Garden hosted a Seattle-side fundraising luncheon that raised over $65,000 for a new greenhouse. PGST Council Member Matt Ives, and PGST employees Laura Price, Joe Price and Kelly Sullivan also participated and welcomed guests. The Foundation was also recently notified that a proposal for ATALMS (Assocation of Tribal Archives, Libraries and Museums) annual conference in November 2024 has been accepted. Dr. Ross Bayton (Garden Director), Kelly Sullivan (PGST Executive Director), Debby Purser (Gardener), and Andrea Dolan-Potter (Foundation Executive Director) will be doing a panel discussion on the creation of Heronsood S'Klallam Connections Garden and Culture Ethnobotany.

- Ronald and George are going to a solar panel training in Bellingham on 5/2. All maintenance staff participated in the energy assessment and will be making repairs as needed.

- We hired an additional on-call staff member and a new Buildings Supervisor.

- The landscapers completed paved walkways at the learning garden and also between the ELC and the Health Clinic.

- Courtney Hart completed two dive classes to prepare for scientific diving with the tribe: Computer Nitrox and Underwater Navigation. Our new Forest and Fish Specialist has started their position - welcome Issac Purser.

- Garrett Sitting Dog and Richard Ogle met their goal of successfully facilitating a buck skin tanning class for tribal members. Emma Saas and Courtney Hart deployed two light traps to monitor juvenile dungeness crab populations in the Salish Sea.

- Multiple grants are being utilized, including EPA, BIA and WA State grants.

- Leah Mellinger and Adrian Purser for their dedication and commitment to the North of Falcon fisheries process during their first year of employment. They represented PGST interests in a highly professional and respectful manner during intertribal and co-management negotiations.
- Issac Purser has been working hard to familiarize himself with the Forest Practice Board Manual and settling in nicely at the wetlab! He's signed up for training and looking forward to his first site visits next month.

- We completed a dive survey of the net pens as part of the NPDES permit and DNR lease. Nikki finished the HR recruitment process for the Forest and Fish Specialist position.
- Courtney Hart completed two dive classes to prepare for scientific diving with the tribe: Computer Nitrox and Underwater Navigation. Our new Forest and Fish Specialist has started their position - welcome Issac Purser.
